Australian prime ministers are not ordinarily known for their willingness to speak another language (Kevin Rudd excepted) but good on Tony Abbott for trying out what even he calls his schoolboy French. It doesn’t matter he doesn’t necessarily gets things right – the important thing is to try, make mistakes with good humour, and then just keep trying – which the PM does here in spades.
