Korean is spoken in North and South Korea, as well as in China and Russia. There are also large Korean communities around the world including Australia. Korean has its own writing system - developed centuries ago - known as Hangul. Korean pop culture - from South Korea - has taken on the world and it's big business. Korean soap operas are very popular, but Korean pop music (known as K-pop) has really taken over. Korean boy bands and girl groups are well known everywhere - all you have to do is to turn on your radio or TV to listen to K-pop all through Asia.
Korean is taught in our schools and at university. It is also offered by the Victorian School of Languages in distance and after hours mode. Community Language Schools also operate in Korean.
Adults can learn Korean at university or take short courses through the CAE .
