Russian's most isolated dialect found in the middle of Alaska. Who knew?

Most people don't know Alaska was originally a Russian colony - sold off cheaply to the US in 1867. Russian colonists settled and mixed with local Native American populations. They also brought Russian with them. While Russian has mostly disappeared, it turns out it has survived in a tiny community known as Ninilchik in the middle of Alaska. Scientists are trying to record the dialect now before it disappears as its last elderly speakers die off.
